Getting Around on Public Transportation
Maybe you didn’t even know you could take public transportation from
Port Townsend to the airport. You can! It’s inexpensive, easy, almost as fast as driving
your car, and no parking hassles! From the Haines Place Park & Ride in Port Townsend
take Jefferson Transit’s #7 bus to Poulsbo. At the end of the line, transfer to Kitsap Transit’s
#90 Express bus to the Bainbridge ferry terminal. Then walk on the ferry – it’s free when
you make the eastbound crossing. Once in downtown Seattle, take the #194 Metro Transit
bus to the airport. The #194 leaves from the bus tunnel between 5:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m.
Monday - Saturday, and between 6:00 a.m. and midnight Sunday.
If you travel lightly, it is easy to walk to the Pioneer Square Station bus tunnel.
The least hilly walk is right on Alaskan Way and left on Yesler. The entrance to
the tunnel is just past 2nd Ave, next to Smith Tower. The #16 or #66 bus will
also take you to the bus tunnel. The #16 runs every 20 minutes and the #66
runs every 30 minutes. Both buses can be boarded on Alaskan Way just outside the ferry
terminal. Please note, time points in this schedule are listed for University St. Station, the
next station to the north, as King County Metro does not publish a time point for Pioneer
Square Station. The two stations are about two minutes apart.
Enter the bus tunnel at 2nd Ave. and Yesler
Way. In the tunnel go to Bay C. The #194
leaves every half hour and more frequently
during rush hour. Travel in the downtown
area is free; you pay when getting off the
bus.
There is only one bus stop at the airport
just south of the baggage claim area. When
returning from the airport to downtown, be
aware that there are two #194 bus stops:
one for heading south and one for heading
north to downtown Seattle.
