An Italianate Villa built by a ship captain's wealthy wife. Captain Grant had a long and semi successful career as a steamship captain. His wife, Lizzie Grant, who owned $50,000 of the First National Bank of Port Townsend purchased an entire block on Pierce Street and built this large residence on it. The house features tall bay windows and wallpaper from Paris as well as an elaborate ceilling medallion and a cast iron mantlepiece.
Marble graces an extravagent parlor with silk wall hangings. Pictures of Lizzie and Captain Grant are in the elaborate drawing room. There is a main staircase and a rear interior staircase for servants. There is also a master suite designed for children with lowered doorway entrances and a private bath.
The house has been extensively restored and is currently a private residence and employs many custom and unique features.
