The Barthrop House, a Richardsonian style victorian is unique to Victorian Port Townsend.
Originally a square Georgian style house, it was remodelled in 1904 by Barthrop to include shingled arches, roof brackets and a third floor. These additions enlarged the home and give a style that was borrowed heavily from ancient Rome.
The home was at one time a boarding house. After many yaers of neglect, restoration began and the home was transformed into the Quimper Inn, a bed and breakfast inn. The original woodwork and fixtures remain, including a newal post light. Unique features of the house are a brick fireplace with brass inlay hammered into griffiths and an oak rimmed hot tub.
Collections of antique furniture is abundent and the interior is a French country impressionistic style.
