The son of Port Townsend's earliest developers, George Barthrop ventured into many businesses.
His wife Emma managed a bookstore theu owned together. Replacing their first home at this location, Emma built this Italiante Villa style home after George died.
Restoration of the house began in 1970 and serves today as a family home, located in the uptown neighborhood of Port Townsend.
