Attractions: Natural and Man Made
Whale Watching
Port Townsend is an excellent place see a variety of wildlife including Orca whales. Three resident pods (families) of Orca's frequent Pugent Sound in search of their favorite food, wild Salmon. On rare occasion they can be seen from the shore passing by but the chances of spotting them are much better with one of the day cruises that depart Port Townsend daily (seasonal). See my links page for tour boat operators.
Day Trips by Car
Just pick any direction and go. The scenery here is amazing and a post card quality picture is around every corner. Maps are essential and are available at the Port Townsend Visitor Center next to the Safeway market. Deer really do freeze in the headlights so keep your speed down.

Downtown Port Townsend
Start at the history museum located in the city hall building at the corner of Water and Madison street.
The museum is open everyday from 11 - 4. Maps and other information are available to guide you. Port Townsend has a very colorful history. I like to walk downtown early in the morning to see the town with less cars and traffic. There is an abundance of restaurants, shops, museums, piers, beaches a movie theater as well as a skate board park.

Kai Tai Lagoon
Located just behind McDonald's and adjacent to the Port Townsend Visitor's center. An inland Lagoon with dozens of species of birds and plants. Enjoy a quiet walk in this unique setting. Bring some bread to feed the ducks and your camera to catch a shot of a Cormorant or Blue Heron.
